Anytime Fitness is a huge gym chain for those who want to work out... anytime! With keycards/badges that allow you access at all times of the day, we see folks who work really early (or late graveyard shifts) love the convenience.
And that's not all, of course. Other key offerings you'll see:
Anytime Fitness clubs are generally below 20,000 square feet, if not smaller, so they physically can't fit too much more than the above gym basics. So, there are several key services/amenities that you won't get, at any of their clubs. There is no:
Of course, all your standard gym offerings are there:
Anytime Fitness was founded in 2002. It was established by Chuck Runyon, Dave Mortensen, and Jeff Klinger in Woodbury, Minnesota, United States. The current CEO of Anytime Fitness is Chuck Runyon. The headquarters of Anytime Fitness is currently located in Woodbury, Minnesota, United States.
All clubs from Anytime Fitness are open all night long—just use your key fob at the door to let you in during unstaffed hours.
Staffed hours vary at all clubs, but the most common we've seen:

Plenty of locations to choose from. With over 2,300 locations across the country, you can bet there is a gym nearby to you. Yep, that means even folks in quiet Montana.
The option to go overseas and also get a workout in. Anytime actually as 5100+ total locations worldwide, including Mexico, Australia, Philippines, Qatar, and many others.
While Anytime Fitness checks off nearly all the boxes for most folks, there are still a few things we'd like to see.
That saunas or steam rooms made an appearance, at even a few of their 2300+ locations. Infrared "portable" saunas (albeit smaller ones) are becoming more popular, and could be an option for a willing franchisee group.
Their locations were larger, in turn would be able to fit more fitness options. Many Anytime Fitness locations are in strip malls, so are of the smaller variety.
Their thousands of locations need an upgrade! We see many gyms with older design, equipment and facilities.
The five locations we examined all had slightly different pricing offers. All had annual fees, and most billed their members “bi-weekly” aka every two weeks. We doubled that cost on our site to reflect roughly the equivalent "monthly" price for better comparison to every other gym out there.

"Is this gym worth it?"
Use our guides to help inform and educate what a gym can offer your fitness lifestyle. Only you can truly decide if a gym is worth it!
Anytime Fitness gyms are common and frequently seen in many cities across the country, serving communities with over 2300+ locations. We can bet there's one, or a few nearby to you.
Members of this gym chain will appreciate that all night, secure access, plus standard amenities like cardio and strength equipment. There are various machines, and functional training options too.
Amenities that Anytime doesn’t have—at any of their locations—are childcare/daycare, sauna, steam rooms, pools, pickleball, racquetball or basketball courts. Whew—quite the list.
Like we said, Anytime Fitness clubs are best known for 24/7 access, and that's really their best trait. That's unfortunate, because as we look to see if a gym is worth it, we measure what they offer vs what it costs. And boy, that equation is out of whack with Anytime.
(Did you know Anytime gyms are franchised? That affects their offerings and price, as we've seen sooo much variation between them all.)
Is this gym chain worth it? It really boils down to how important all-night access is to you. It's an amazing, and essential feature, but be prepared to pay for it, especially in some locations.
We recommend you check out 24 Hour Fitness, Gold's Gym, Crunch and EoS as other options if you want a larger feature set. Monthly rates are also competitive with Anytime.
