Welcome to the ultimate guide to Fitness Connection. We've rounded up all our expertise on this page—giving you everything you needed to know about the popular gym chain.
Fitness Connection is a very well rounded, amenity happy fitness chain with 40 locations of fun. Members there are spoiled—here's what they can access:
You can of course expect all your standard gym equipment at Fitness Connection too:
Fitness Connection was founded in 1998 and its headquarters are located in McLean, Virginia, USA. The current CEO of Fitness Connection is Patrick Flanagan.
The exact opening hours for each location is different, but the most common we've seen:
The total amount of locations we're tracking from this fitness chain.
Room for activities! Average square footage of their gyms.
How much you can expect to pay for the entry-level membership every month
A gym chain that knows what their customers want is a simple concept that many simply can't execute. Fitness Connection has this nailed down. Read on for more of what we love.
Nearly all of their locations (all but just two) have childcare and saunas. By the way: childcare is free(!) for members on their Plus membership package, typically $21.99. This perk alone is unheard of in the fitness industry.
A dedicated women's-only workout area, available at 34 of their gyms. This is a rare amenity in the industry, and a great option for those women who would prefer to workout in a separate environment.
28 locations with a turf area for stretching, sledding, bodyweight exercises and more. Don't forget about the 19 that have a cardio cinema, too.
Most folks should be quite content with the various offerings at Fitness Connection. Would we change a few things though? Of course.
None of their locations are open 24/7. For those who prefer a midnight or early early morning workout, Fitness Connection can't help you—sorry!
Exactly 2 clubs have a pool, and exactly 2 have a hot tub. Water amenities aren't a priority with this gym chain.
At their value price point of around $10 a month, other gym chains bring in massage chair options and tanning booths. Fitness Connection has exactly zero of both these amenities.
They've almost nearly standardized their pricing across the country, with just a couple outliers. We checked pricing with these clubs: Durham, NC, Mesquite, TX, Sparks, NV. Here's how it's structured:
Annual fee comes in at $49, and billed about 30-days from initial sign-up. We suspect most folks would opt for the Plus membership, since group exercise, basketball, functional turf and (free!) kids club is included. We're actually a bit unsure how the $10 Flex works for access (can people just sneak off to play basketball?) but we're looking into it.
We all have different bodies, different goals and different fitness journeys. Some gyms may fit a person better than others. So who would enjoy this gym most?

Free weights, strength machines and cardio equipment.
Nothing like the hot heat to warm muscles up.
An extra early or real late workout—your choice.
Stretch, sleds, bodyweight or box jumps. The turf area is the place to be.
Relieve pain post workout or soothe sore muscles.
Gym Pricing Tiers Explained
There are 3-4 main pricing tiers that nearly all gyms across the country fall into. Generally, higher prices = more amenities and services.
$10 - $25 /month — Value
$15 - $30 /month — High Value Low Price
$25 - $65 Monthly — Mid-Tier
$65 and up — Boutique/Specialty/Luxury
"Is this gym worth it?"
Use our guides to help inform and educate what a gym can offer your fitness lifestyle. Only you can truly decide if a gym is worth it!
Fitness Connection gyms are well stocked, modernized and actually—a bit too colorful! (We'll get back to that later).
They're a solid option for those in Reno, many cities in Texas, as well as multiple locations in North Carolina. We have a feeling they're going to—or should—expand. Why? Because everything screams they've got their act together.
The majority of their locations have (free!) childcare and saunas, two of our most asked about amenities. Don't forget about functional turf, Olympic lifting platforms and basketball. These last three are all the rage, and a clear sign that Fitness Connection understands their younger audiences.
All is not perfect though, with pools only available in 2 clubs. They also don't have steam rooms, nor have any location open 24-hours-a-day.
They've also structured pricing nearly identical across the country, which makes it easier to compare. Access to most amenities we featured will put you at the $21.99/monthly "Plus" membership. That's a very strong deal compared to an LA Fitness, for example, that would run you $39.99/month. Or, a weaker offering at Anytime Fitness Durham, at $59.98/month.
One last word about their childcare: we can't name a single gym out there that provides this for free. Busy parents know a gym who can watch your kids is a gamechanger. This alone makes Fitness Connection 100% worth it!
So, looks like they nailed it on both sides: solid and well-rounded amenity sets, plus a price-point that'll make it difficult to look anywhere else. Now, we just need to get past their walls being painted like a kindergarten classroom. (Didn't we say it's a bit too colorful?) With a compelling, affordable package, we're sure you'll get used to it.
