Does Planet Fitness have pickleball?
Let me guess: your newfound addiction of pickleball has you wanting to play every day and every night. You're not alone—pickleball is one of the most popular sports right now, an absolutely fun and addictive game for folks of all ages.
Here at gymscompared.com, players are always asking us if a certain gym has a court. And it does make complete sense. Wouldn't it be great if your pickleball matches were at the same location as your daily workout?
Yes, more and more gyms across the country are starting to add pickleball as an amenity—and you're in luck, we've got the full list.
Ok. So what about Planet Fitness?
Nope, sorry. You'll have to find another gym to satisfy your pickleball cravings. None of their over 2,000 locations feature the sport—we checked every single one of their gym websites, plus connected with their customer care team.
Why doesn't Planet Fitness have pickleball?
Here are our best thoughts to why (not):
- No space. While Planet Clubs aren't on the small side (10,000 square feet), their average gym still isn't as quite large as "big box" chains like 24 Hour Fitness (40,000 square feet)—who have room to include basketball hoops and pools.
- Pickleball doesn't fit their amenity offerings. The large majority of space at Planet gyms are cardio machines, then some weighted machines, and finally lighter free weights. Planet chose to go with more health/wellness focused services, including tanning and hydromassage.
- Pickleball doesn't fit their pricing structure. Including a large court for this sport would be a costly undertaking—driving monthly membership prices up. And that certainly doesn't fit the value-focused fitness chain.
Will Planet Fitness have pickleball in the future?
Gotta be a no. Planet Fitness is one of the leaders in HVLP (high-value-low-price) gym chains. Adding pickleball would skyrocket the monthly membership costs.
Wrapping it up
No pickleball at any of Planet's 2,335 locations, sorry folks. We don't believe it's coming in the future either.
