Does Retro Fitness have pickleball?
Let me guess: your newfound addiction of pickleball has you wanting to play every day and every night. You're not alone—pickleball is one of the most popular sports right now, an absolutely fun and addictive game for folks of all ages.
Here at gymscompared.com, players are always asking us if a certain gym has a court. And it does make complete sense. Wouldn't it be great if your pickleball matches were at the same location as your daily workout?
Yes, more and more gyms across the country are starting to add pickleball as an amenity—and you're in luck, we've got the full list.
Ok. So what about Retro Fitness?
Nope, sorry. Pickleball fans will need to find another place to play.
Why doesn't Retro Fitness have pickleball?
We have some ideas to why Retro doesn't:
- First: There's no space! These clubs are on the smaller side of what we regularly see: less than around 20,000 square feet for the majority of their locations. We typically see pickleball added to gym locations that are 40 and 50,000 square feet and larger—specifically those that have a basketball or tennis court to be repurposed.
- Second: the workout areas at Retro primarily focus on "traditional gym equipment" such as free-weights, machines and cardio equipment. Pickleball just isn't a focused amenity set for their customers. Would they be interested in the sport? Sure—but they'll need to find another place to play unfortunately.
- Finally: Pickleball doesn't fit their price-point. With monthly gym memberships at Retro hovering around $20, adding pickleball wouldn't make financial sense. Figure in the cost of maintenance, supplies, staffing and more.... Pickleball would definitely add to the total overall cost.
Will Retro Fitness have pickleball in the future?
We don't think so. Sure, they could take a drastic turn from their well established business plan... that would require a significant change in who they are, and how much they charge. We suggest finding a different place to play.
Wrapping it up
No pickleball at any of Retro Fitness' 86 locations, sorry folks. Don't believe it's coming in the future either.
