Ready to turn up the heat? Like others, you've discovered the immense benefits of a sauna. You love the hot hot heat, and the way it draw toxins and impurities from your skin. We are on the same vibe my friend: that fresh out of the sauna' feeling is purely addictive!
Here at gymscompared.com, people are always asking us if a certain gym has a sauna. And we can clearly see why it makes sense: Folks are either warming up muscles before their workouts, or relaxing sore ones once their session is complete. Bottom line: the sauna is a key amenity to help achieve your fitness goals.
More and more gyms across the country have added a sauna (or two!) for their members—and we've done all the research for you.

Which 24 Hour Fitness has a sauna?
A lot of them! As of March 2024, we count 283 total gyms at 24 Hour Fitness. A stunning 88% of of them have a sauna... exactly 250 gyms. That covers multiple states, and especially many cities across Northern and Southern California.
When collecting this data, we saw how important this amenity is to their total offering. Whether it was larger, Super-Sport clubs, or even their smallest footprint Active locations: saunas were nearly always included.
Having attended several of their new club openings in the past few years, every single one had a sauna.

Unfortunately we're not sure on the exact temperature at this chain—but we're looking into it. Of course, there will be variances between each location as well.
In our experience:
- Most traditional saunas we've seen have their temperatures set between 150 and 175 degrees F.
- Infrared saunas usually aren't quite as hot, and hover around 120 and 140 degrees F.

There are a few different types of saunas, with the most popular being "traditional" or "infrared." 24 Hour Fitness saunas are the traditional (and our favorite) type. You can expect higher humidity, and higher temps with the traditional type.

Are there separate saunas for men and women?
Yes, and no! And 24 doesn't make it clear on their website how they have it setup—you'll need to call or check with the front desk.
- Some locations (such as Millbrae, California's Super-Sport) has a sauna in the women's locker room, and another one separate in the men's locker room.
- We've also been to their San Ramon, Super Sport club, and the sauna is shared by both women and men, right beside the pool in the open area.
What to wear in the sauna at 24 Hour Fitness
We haven't seen a specific dress code for using the sauna at 24 Hour Fitness. But, here are some general guidelines we've seen:
- Expect to sweat—so dress accordingly. Yep, the heat will turn up your internal temps and sweat will soon follow. Make sure you're wearing clothes that wick and/or absorb your sweat easily.
- Make sure you're comfortable: most folks we've seen in the sauna are wearing the same athletic sportswear they use on the gym floor. Shorts, leggings, t-shirts and such.
- There are of course several recommended items to not wear: such as jeans, coats and heavy clothing.
