This is the ultimate guide to Fitness 19! All of our expertise is summarized on this page—giving you everything you need to know about the gym chain.
Fitness 19 gyms are popular choices for many, especially with rock bottom pricing at many locations. That translates into a less comprehensive amenities list:
So, no extravagant or widespread amenity sets at Fitness 19. That doesn't mean you can't get a great workout, of course. See what else you can get:
Fitness19 was founded in 2003 in Pleasanton, California, USA. The current CEO is Bob Rodger. Its headquarters is located in South Plainfield, New Jersey.
While the exact times will differ for every location, the most common opening hours we've seen from Fitness 19 are:
The total amount of locations we're tracking from this fitness chain.
Room for activities! Average square footage of their gyms.
How much you can expect to pay for the entry-level membership every month
Excellent value pricing for many of their locations. It's a bit no frills on the amenities side, but overall a good option if you're looking for a more basic gym that won't break the bank.
Strong pricing structure with $10 monthly memberships available in multiple locations.
Parents can still workout with their kids nearby at Fitness 19. About a quarter of their gyms offer it—we count 19 total.
A rebrand, or update of sorts that is happening on their website. We're seeing updated amenity descriptions, actual gym photos, and best of all: refreshed locations. This probably has to do with the different franchise groups at Fitness 19.
While Fitness 19 may work out for many people, there are quite still a few things we'd like to see.
There was more clarity on who owns which Fitness 19 club. Generally, those in California are fit19.com clubs (updated, fresher, more amenities). Those outside California are fitness19.com clubs, and have less detail and info.
Pools were an available amenity at Fitness 19 clubs. Same goes for steam and hot tubs. Exactly zero of their locations have these amenities.
Even just a single location would be open 24-hours-a-day. This would help them compete with a few other all-night gym chains.
Fitness 19 gyms are going through a crisis identity. They have two websites: www.fit19.com and www.fitness19.com, where the first is updated, fresh, and provides great info on their gyms, amenities and much more. The second appears to be an older version, with a lack of information and detail.
Here's what we think is going on: different ownership groups or franchisees operating their own clubs (and websites). That affects pricing, as we checked three locations in California: Daly City, Danville and West Covina, from fit19.com. We got:
Premium Plus memberships get you hydromassage, indoor cycling, group fitness classes, weekend guests, tanning and red-light therapy.
The 1-year paid up front deal gets everything mentioned, but at a great price. You go from $349.98 ($24.99 x 12 plus $49.99 annual fee) to just $245 or $265. That's a huge 25% savings, nearly $100.
We then checked with fitness19.com, their Katy, TX club and Malverne, NY.
If you were to check the second site, you'd notice a huge lack of amenities, services and features. It honestly feels like a whole different gym! This affects how we determine if a gym is worth it—keep reading until the conclusion.
We all have different bodies, different goals and different fitness journeys. Some gyms may fit a person better than others. So who would enjoy this gym most?
Free weights, strength machines and cardio equipment.
Nothing like the hot heat to warm muscles up.
An extra early or real late workout—your choice.
Stretch, sleds, bodyweight or box jumps. The turf area is the place to be.
Relieve pain post workout or soothe sore muscles.
Gym Pricing Tiers Explained
There are 3-4 main pricing tiers that nearly all gyms across the country fall into. Generally, higher prices = more amenities and services.
$10 - $25 /month — Value
$15 - $30 /month — High Value Low Price
$25 - $65 Monthly — Mid-Tier
$65 and up — Boutique/Specialty/Luxury

Most people shouldn't notice the two different "companies" in the case of Fitness 19, because their locations aren't in the same areas. But, we're seeing that the gyms themselves, along with overall costs, are definitely different.
Still, understanding that this is more of a budget fitness chain, all your standard amenities are included (free weights, cardio, etc). As such, they should fall into the more inexpensive price ranges, and they do for the most part at $10 to $14.99.
When you get into the $19.99 to $25 Plus membership, you gain group fitness, massage and more. That pricing places them closer to a Crunch Fitness, but not quite as good as an amenity set.
