Fitness International, the parent company of LA Fitness, has acquired XSport Fitness, incorporating 35 gym locations into its expanding network. This acquisition enhances Fitness International's footprint in New York, Chicagoland, and Virginia.
The XSport Fitness website now redirects to LA Fitness, indicating the transition. The rebranded gyms will operate under one of Fitness International's brands, which include LA Fitness, Esporta Fitness, City Sports Club, and Club Studio.
Jill Greuling, President of Club Operations at Fitness International, stated, "This expansion solidifies our position as one of the largest privately-held health club operators in the United States and provides the opportunity to bring our best-in-class fitness experience to more people across the country."
In an email to XSport Fitness members, it was announced that XSport would exit the health and fitness club business, with the transition to LA Fitness effective July 16, 2024. Fitness International will honor all active membership agreements and their specific club-access privileges.
Those 35 clubs all around Chicago have now been eaten up by one of the largest mid-sized gym chains in the country.
We'll have an updated count for either LA Fitness/Esporta soon: it just depends on how Fitness International decides to operate their new locations.
