Welcome to the ultimate guide to Edge Fitness. We've rounded up all our expertise on this page—giving you everything you needed to know about the popular gym chain.
Edge Fitness is an energetic, exciting tier fitness option for many folks in the East Coast. Members probably love the various amenities, where the chain of 43 gyms feature:
That's just scratching the surface. You can also expect to experience all your standard gym equipment:
Edge Fitness was founded in 1987 in South Connecticut, USA. The CEO is Michael Copeland Sansone. The headquarters is located in Orange, Connecticut, USA.
Every location at Edge has their own specific hours. But, most of the gyms we've seen from them:

This east coast gym chain has a sharp and "edgy" attitude, that delivers a powerful gym experience. We love how their all around amenities approach that covers the top wants/needs of members.
A stunning 95 % of their locations have childcare—so parents are in for a treat. Kids and parents can workout and play at the same time at Edge.
Not many gyms have dedicated areas for women to workout—but Edge does. At every single one of their 43 locations, in fact! Women can workout without worry at Edge.
The Edge protein shake bar! We haven't tried it yet, but flavors like "Cookie Monster" or "Thin Mint" with real Oreo® pieces must be amazing after a workout.
This is a rare sight to see, there are only about 100 gyms in the country with a shake/smoothie bar.
Edge has done an amazing job running their clubs, but we think they can take it a step further! Check out some additional things we'd love to see from them.
There should be pools at Edge Fitness! We just think they'd do this amenity right: keeping it clean and maintained well.
Edge needs to expand, and bring more than just 43 locations to the East coast. They could be a major force to rival national brands with their overall top-notch offerings.
None of their clubs have basketball or are open 24-hours-a-day. Courts could also be repurposed for volleyball or pickleball, too. Our readers ask for this alot: imagine all-night hoops!
Edge Fitness clubs are priced very competitively, with a plan that can get you working out for just $9.99. Their "HVLP" approach of "high-value-low-price" gives them literally—an Edge—on many of their competitors. Here's the membership breakdown:
All plans above have a 12-month commitment period, and have an annual fee of $49.99, charged on the first day of your second month. It's their yearly "enhancement fee" where they will re-invest back into the club for maintenance. There's also a $3/month charge if you decide to bill on credit card, vs bank draft.
Initiation fees range start at $79, down to $39 or $29, and often $0 when on promotion. During online checkout, you'll see a $19.50 processing fee, and have to pay your first month's dues. Some of their promos do wipe out that first month cost though.
Ok—so what about that $9.99 membership? All plans above are for 12-month contracts. If you select a 24-month, then you can get a FIT membership down from $14.99 to $9.99. Break-even point here is 16 months, so if you're a $9.99 FIT member beyond that, you're getting your absolute best deal.
For that same 24-month option, there are no discounts to the Fit or Total plans—you might as well get the 12-month for ultimate flexibility.

"Is this gym worth it?"
Use our guides to help inform and educate what a gym can offer your fitness lifestyle. Only you can truly decide if a gym is worth it!
We know why Edge Fitness gyms are so popular, and why those in the East coast must be ecstatic if one opens up nearby to them.
They have a great mix of amenities, packaged into a positive, upbeat and straight up cool package. Most folks will take advantage of their childcare, sauna and turf areas, available at the majority of locations.
Don't forget about the cardio cinema, women's-only-workout areas and the smoothie bar! These three alone set Edge worlds apart from Planet Fitness, Anytime Fitness and Retro Fitness.
Their clubs are newer, cleaner and fresher than the competition. With "just 42" gyms, they also have the advantage of staying somewhat local in the eyes their members, skipping the 'big box gym chain' label.
The three amenities that many won't like, however? Lack of pools, basketball and open-24-hours. Can't have it all, I guess!
Pricing-wise, we're fans of the $14.99 entry level Red membership. Moving up to Fit or Total plans only place you at $24.99 and $34.99, which of course come with many other perks such as tanning, additional club access, and even unlimited guests.
Again: if an Edge opens nearby to you, it's hard to argue against the well-rounded amenities set, priced in at very competitive rates. Our final take: Edge Fitness - 100% worth it.
